Q: What are the transportation costs in detail?
A: The transportation budget is $105,014 total, broken down as follows:

Payroll (includes ½ director salary,
bus drivers, and all fringe) $43,575

Contracted Services: $13, 515
Driver Physicals $500
Driver Training $1, 015
Drug Testing $1,000
Maint & Repairs $11,000

Supplies & Materials: $44,650
Fuel $32,150

Other supplies $500

Other Operating Expenses: $3,274
Bus insurance $2,479
Other $795

Q: What percentage are administrative salaries of the total salaries of the district?
A: Administrative salaries are 13.7% of the total salaries of the district.

Q: What percentage of the taxpaying population is over age 65/what percentage of taxpayers will the increase affect?
A: The information available only speaks to the values of the properties involved, not the number of taxpayers. Cumby ISD spans two counties with two appraisal districts, Hopkins and Hunt. Combined, 12.8% of the value is based on frozen taxes (over 65), 87.2% of the value is based on net taxable value.

Q: Can the board start a political action committee to inform the community.
A: No. A PAC must be separate from the dealings of the school district. Tony Aquilar has volunteered to start a PAC and can be contacted through his email address.
Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT) To School

On January 19, 2012 at the regular board meeting, the Cumby ISD Board of Trustees adopted a Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT) to School Agreement and the protocol for using that technology at school. Students are not only allowed, but are encouraged to bring their technology to school. Students and their parents must read and sign the agreement before students will be allowed to use their technology in the classroom.

Click Here to download and print a copy to sign and return to school. Contact Tony Martin or Shelly Slaughter if you have any questions.
