This class will cover the history of our great country from English colonization at Jamestown in 1607 through the end of Reconstruction in 1877. This is the first year your child will take a Social Studies TAKS test. So it is very important that they attend class everyday! Not only will this class help your child become a better citizen, but it lays a strong foundation for the social studies classes they will take in high school. 50% of this class will be tested again on the 10th grade TAKS test, and 25% will be on the exit level TAKS in the 11th grade. I am very exited to start this journey with your child!

In this class we will learn all about this great state in which we live. From the climate, landforms, and geographic regions, to the history and present issues of Texas. We will also be working on skills that will help prepare your child for next year's social studies TAKS. I am looking forward to a fun year in social studies!

The purpose of the GT class is to help young learners think more critically and creatively while developing problem solving skills, and enriching the 4 core subject areas.

In this class we will reinforce what your child is learning in reading, writing, and math. We will also be learning and practicing effective strategies to "attack the TAKS." I am excited about the opportunity to see your child grow and be successful!
